Sitting here in Trafford Park, looking out the window at grey skies and windswept trees, it’s clear that autumn has well and truly arrived. With the days getting shorter and the winter woollies appearing from the back of the wardrobe, we all need a little something to warm our cockles in the evening. Luckily for us, it’s at this time of year that our director Alex brews his famous cider.

Apple juice’s grown up cousin has been having something of a renaissance over the last few years, with the likes of Magners, Wyldwood and Hendersons doing for cider what London Pride and Old Speckled Hen have done for ale. No longer the reserve of ruddy-faced bumpkins, cider is drunk by the fashionable and sophisticated alike. And here at We Are Creation, we think it’s not before time.

Alex has long been an advocate of Eden’s own hooch, so much so that a few years ago, he started brewing it himself. And a mighty tasty drop it is too. He has a microbrewery set up in his garage at home, with an impressive looking hand press and fruit grinder, and several fermentation tanks. He even has a state-of-the-art hydrometer to measure the alcohol content. He’s so dedicated to the art of cider making that the family cars have been relegated to the driveway.

This year’s batch has been a roaring success. A heady combination of sweet russets and tart pippins, Alex’s cloudy cider has a rich nose, a mellow palate with notes of pear, and a soothingly sweet aftertaste. It could be his finest creation yet. And at a staggering 9%abv, it’s the loveliest drop of rocket fuel you’re likely to taste. It may even be making an appearance at this year’s Didsbury Beer Festival. Sadly, we were disappointed to learn that it doesn’t count as one of your five a day.

Over the last few years, Alex has been sending bottles of delicious hand-pressed cider and pots of homemade chilli jam to our loyal clients at Christmas. In fact, it doesn’t feel like Christmas in the studio unless we have a jar of chilli jam on the go for spreading on our morning crumpets. You never know, you may be one of the lucky clients who unwraps a bottle of Mr Miller’s finest cider this Christmas.

As usual, we will be using all of our design and printing talents to brand up this year’s bottles with unique We Are Creation labels.

The only problem is that we need your help naming the stuff. The first five people to visit our Facebook page and suggest a name will win a bottle of this delicious cider. The overall winner will receive a whole case of six bottles!
